Swarm Missions

Infected swarms may block your paths on the campaign map and must be cleared to unlock the mission they're blocking without losing the Outpost. Each completed swarm mission additionally rewards Empire Points.

The amount of infected in each swarm is affected by the campaign difficulty currently set.

The list below shows the missions which are unlocked after their corresponding swarm is defeated.

Unit and Defense Structures

Units and defense structures unlocked through the technology tree can be used in swarm missions. Rangers and Wood Barriers are available from the start.

Each unit type and defense structure has a different cost. Upgrades unlocked for units and structures are applied accordingly (e.g. higher damage, more hitpoints, etc). Defensive Barriers upgrades apply to the Outpost as well.

Empire Points used in swarm missions are always refunded for use in future missions, regardless of the units lost or mission outcome.

Can be placed anywhere, except for the outermost few tiles in the enemy spawn zones. Placing units too close to the edge of the map will be "warned".

Ranger: 10 Empire Points
Soldier: 20 Empire Points
Sniper: 25 Empire Points
Lucifer: 180 Empire Points
Thanatos: 240 Empire Points
Titan: 350 Empire Points
Mutant: 1000 Empire Points

Cannot be placed within 5 tiles of the Outpost and at the greyed-out enemy spawn zones. Defense Structures are unaffected by Lucifers' flamethrower, except for Wood Barriers.

Wood Barriers: 10 Empire Points 300 HP Blocks a single tile
Stakes Trap: 4 Empire Points 150 HP
Wire Fence Trap: 8 Empire Points 350 HP (455 HP if Carbon Steel technology is unlocked)
Land Mine: 5 Empire Points Indestructible, unless an enemy steps on it Deals 500 damage susceptible to reduction from the armor 0-3 seconds manually set detonator (defaulted to 0 seconds) Can only be activated by an enemy stepping on it (i.e. it cannot be manually detonated by ordering a friendly fire attack)
Wasp: 40 Empire Points 300 HP

Each difficulty 3 swarm mission rewards 260 Empire Points.

The Noxious Swamp Blocked by Runners

Gamma Medical Center Blocked by Harpies

The Resistance Blocked by Runners, Executives, and Chubbies

Each difficulty 4 swarm mission rewards 340 Empire Points.

The Wasteland of the Giants Blocked by Runners, Executives, and Chubbies

The Forbidden Forest Blocked by Infected Behemoths (40 Behemoths regardless of the difficulty setting: 4 Behemoths spawn every 2 hours, repeats 10 times)

Omicron Laboratory Blocked by Venoms

Each difficulty 5 swarm mission rewards 460 Empire Points, apart from the Highlands swarm, which rewards 440 Empire Points.

Phoenix Project Blocked by Infected Giants (20 Giants regardless of the difficulty setting: 2 Giants spawn every 5 hours, repeats 10 times)

The Highlands Blocked by Runners, Executives and Venoms Map special condition: Slow Terrain (all units speed -20%)

The Goddess of Destiny Blocked by Runners, Executives, Harpies, Chubbies, Venoms, and Behemoths From the start only Runners are spawned After 1 day and 8 hours, Executives start spawning After 2 days and 16 hours, Chubbies start spawning After 3 days and 16 hours, Harpies start spawning After 5 days and 2 hours, Venoms start spawning After 6 days and 2 hours, Behemoths start spawning (20 Behemoths regardless of the difficulty setting: 5 Behemoths spawn every 6 hours, repeats 4 times)

Modifiers vary for each swarm mission slightly, except for Challenging (100%), but stay within a 0.01% range.
